But DAMN. I had no idea I knew so many idiots of so many varying stripes.
I’ve seen the “Chick Fil A doesn’t discriminate; if you go in a restaurant and say you’re gay they’ll still give you a sandwich” idiots.
I’ve seen the “Chick Fil A is so good; I’ma eat wherever I want” gay idiots.
And then there are the family values idiots who are always idiots and I just didn’t realize I knew so many of them.
I just wanna show you this conversation I almost participated in on Facebook. I say “almost” because I did make a couple of comments, but I stopped, because you can’t argue with conservative Christians. They can’t read. If they could, they’d actually form some independent opinions and stop acting like sheep. But we’ll leave that alone for now.
This was posted by a girl I went to high school with, complete with the bigotry that followed.

My heart is very heavy as I write this but it so needs to be said. Chick-fil-A is a wonderful company and even as they make a stand for Biblical marriage it does not mean that they don’t still love those who live a different lifestyle. It does not mean they are prejudice, it does not mean they are close minded, nor does it mean they dislike those who are gay or lesbian. Please re-read the statement that was made before you jump to assuming conclusions about Chick-fil-A as a company. A company might I remind anyone who is against them at this point that was founded on hard work, dedication, family values and love. This is the same company who would hold an umbrella over your sweet head if it was raining no matter who you were, what you stood for or against or who you are in a relationship with.A company who will serve anyone and everyone with a smile and true care for your experience at their restaurant. Please remember why so many continually come to eat more chicken…because it’s not just about the chicken. It is about serving. ALL people.
TC amen…well said…agreed
KB Well said, cuz.
SA * Hugs* ..thank you MA.
JN Amen girl - go Chick-fil-A!
ME Very well said. I very much agree.
AK My heart is heavy, too. I don’t see this as a time of suffering and adversity for Chick-fil-a—this is a time of suffering and adversity for those who love as fiercely and sacredly as you and I do, as all their fellow humans, but who are denied equal rights. Not just to marry, but to be treated as equally human. To be on the “Go Chick-Fil-A” side of this debate is something I simply cannot imagine now, nor can I imagine explaining it to my grandchildren when they bewilderedly ask how there could have ever been a time, in such recent history in America, when gay people were denied their basic civil rights.
PH Because of this post MA I felt compelled to share one of my own. You said it well !
RB Totally agree with you MA! Chick Fil A is hands down my favorite “fast-food” place to go because of not only the quality of their food, but for the wonderful way every customer is treated.
Rafi D’Angelo This company founded on hard work and dedication takes their profits to fund organizations actively seeking to discriminate against me.
I don’t care about an umbrella. I care about being equal. Buying a sandwich from Chic Fil-A is giving a donation to bigots who don’t think I should be able to marry who I love. That is not OK, regardless of how they treat their customers one on one.
NA The only group that Chick-fil-A is “actively seeking to discriminate against” is the beef industry. Eat Mor Chikin!
PH Had to quote you NA !
AP Thank you for posting this MA. I’m gonna share it if you don’t mind.
AP @Rafi- please take your negative comments elsewhere. They are not welcome here.
RC this makes me so sad, you are such a sweet person, such a sweet family, i hate that people are being so negative and mean, you deserve so much more positivity and respect from people!!!
MA Thanks Robyn! YOU are so sweet! : ) I am cool with the negativity.
DL Last time I checked this is still a free country. We are all allowed our right to free speech, and believe as we want, and I support Chick-fil-a as a privatly held company to hold and share how they believe.
Rafi D’Angelo Where was anyone mean or negative? Is it mean or negative to disagree with someone? That’s mean? Mean is giving money to people who call me names and work to make me a second class citizen. I don’t understand this mindset. I don’t understand the South in general. But you’re all welcome to support each other in this insular world of like-minded thinking. Your minds are made up already.
ZA ^ Rafi, I understand your concern and interest in redefining marriage to include same sex couples. However, you lose credibility with many people by automatically calling those who aren’t in line with your views “bigots.” I might add, as an aside, that the majority of these contributions to so-called “anti-gay” groups are being inflated in recent reports. Winshape Foundation, one of the supposedly anti-gay orgs, actually is a foster-home and marriage-counseling organization. Its stance not in support of gay marriage is strictly peripheral, as I understand.
TC Now i feel compelled as well to voice my idea and my heart is heavy as well..everyone who know me..i am miranda mom and also on my fb page i am big advocate for gay rights and human rights but also i can walk away and agree to dissagree with anyone..i have friends from all walks of life..rafi…i can understand you to a point however please dont stereotype or generalize..people not just you but anyone has the right to believe what they wish and stand on the grounds they beleive are correct in front of lord god..this what this country was founded..i fail to see how your rights are being trampled upon..if you were to go inside any chik fil a and say i am gay give me a sandwitch please you would be served like anyone else my friend..i am not making light or making fun …pleas3e do not missunderstand my point…
TC My point is…my son has worked for chik fil a for years and i have seen what a wonderful company it is with outstanding people including the owners in columbia…he has earned college scholarship in doing so…the company has always supported the community and given to numerous charities and local events..i like the fact is its closed on su days to alow for family time..something this country severely lacks in…also i have a sister who is gay…with a partner 15 years..so am very tolerant and my best friend is gay..i have many gay friends..my daughter and son in law at one time worked for chik fil a so i know about this company on a personal level..we all have the right to pick and choose where we spend our money..you may choose to not spend your money at chik fil a..but as i see it my friend the only disscrimination here is against chik fil a..no one else…i say go buy more chicken sandwitches and support this fine company even more….i make no apologies for anyone who stands up for what they beleive in even if someone else doesnt alway agree with what that may be..this nation believes in the right to speak your beleifs…the right to freedom of religion….and we have the right to open or closed minds as well….this is blown out of purportion…its a shame….i pray this is resolved soon and this company can go on doing what it does best…serving the community with great food!!
AP @Rafi, the negativity shows when you started taking pot shots at the whole Chick-Fil-A organization. Just because you don’t agree with something someone does, does not mean you should then turn around and drag their name through the mud. Your just as wrong for that as Chick-fil-a is for “calling you names”.
BG amen! our society wants everyone to tolerate differing opinions/values/beleifs….so why can’t society tolerate ours? I don’t get it. You can’t stand for “anyone can believe what they want” and then condemn Christians…
Let’s take a moment to collectively vomit before I get started.
First, two tangentially related points: 1) The girl who posted this is bi-racial and married to a white man. I was like “Alright…so…you’re all for this company who is against “changing the definition of marriage” yet your parents wouldn’t be together, you wouldn’t be here, and you wouldn’t be married to that white man if someone hadn’t “changed” the definition 50 years ago to allow interracial marriage.
2) Republicans are CRYBABIES. Holy shit. I’m being made into a second class citizen, yet *I’m* being mean and negative for pointing it out? They can stand on their family values to say whatever horrible things they want about gay people, but once I say “you’re a bigot”, oh, oh no, now hold-up there, you’re being negative.
Fuck your whole life, crybaby.
Are people really so dense as to think this is about a chicken sandwich? I don’t give a damn about a chicken sandwich. I don’t care how good it is or how good the customer service is. I don’t care about free speech or how Dan Cathy is allowed to say what he wants. I don’t care that your son worked there or you’re so gay friendly and you don’t believe in discrimination. I don’t care that not everybody who eats at Chick Fil A is a bigot. I don’t care about any of that.
All I care about is: They are taking my/our/your money and giving it to people who hate me. THAT’S IT! That’s all I care about! Every chicken sandwich you buy is a donation to a bigot somewhere. Chick Fil A is great! Yay for scholarship money! Double yay for delicious chicken! I love Chick Fil A! But unfortunately, I can’t give them any money because I don’t want to use MY OWN DOLLARS TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST MYSELF.
Lord, and all these simple gay fools still eating there. You’re a mess. I can’t even explain away your ignorance. You all basically look as stupid as Antoine Dodson:
That’s what you look like. You really wanna look like that? Cause that’s what you look like. Stop eating there. You’re an idiot. Simple ass fool. You look crazy.
