I don’t really feel like talking about Chick Fil A.

But DAMN. I had no idea I knew so many idiots of so many varying stripes.

I’ve seen the “Chick Fil A doesn’t discriminate; if you go in a restaurant and say you’re gay they’ll still give you a sandwich” idiots.

I’ve seen the “Chick Fil A is so good; I’ma eat wherever I want” gay idiots.

And then there are the family values idiots who are always idiots and I just didn’t realize I knew so many of them.

I just wanna show you this conversation I almost participated in on Facebook. I say “almost” because I did make a couple of comments, but I stopped, because you can’t argue with conservative Christians. They can’t read. If they could, they’d actually form some independent opinions and stop acting like sheep. But we’ll leave that alone for now.

My heart is very heavy as I write this but it so needs to be said. Chick-fil-A is a wonderful company and even as they make a stand for Biblical marriage it does not mean that they don’t still love those who live a different lifestyle. It does not mean they are prejudice, it does not mean they are close minded, nor does it mean they dislike those who are gay or lesbian. Please re-read the statement that was made before you jump to assuming conclusions about Chick-fil-A as a company. A company might I remind anyone who is against them at this point that was founded on hard work,dedication,family values and love. This is the same company who would hold an umbrella over your sweet head if it was raining no matter who you were, what you stood for or against or who you are in a relationship with.A company who will serve anyone and everyone with a smile and true care for your experience at their restaurant. Please remember why so many continually come to eat more chicken…because it’s not just about the chicken. It is about serving. ALL people.

I don’t see this as a time of suffering and adversity for Chick-fil-a—this is a time of suffering and adversity for those who love as fiercely and sacredly as you and I do, as all their fellow humans, but who are denied equal rights. Not just to marry, but to be treated as equally human. To be on the “Go Chick-Fil-A” side of this debate is something I simply cannot imagine now, nor can I imagine explaining it to my grandchildren when they bewilderedly ask how there could have ever been a time, in such recent history in America, when gay people were denied their basic civil rights.

However, you lose credibility with many people by automatically calling those who aren’t in line with your views “bigots.” I might add, as an aside, that the majority of these contributions to so-called “anti-gay” groups are being inflated in recent reports. Winshape Foundation, one of the supposedly anti-gay orgs, actually is a foster-home and marriage-counseling organization. Its stance not in support of gay marriage is strictly peripheral, as I understand.

TC My point is…my son has worked for chik fil a for years and i have seen what a wonderful company it is with outstanding people including the owners in columbia…he has earned college scholarship in doing so…the company has always supported the community and given to numerous charities and local events..i like the fact is its closed on su days to alow for family time..something this country severely lacks in…also i have a sister who is gay…with a partner 15 years..so am very tolerant and my best friend is gay..i have many gay friends..my daughter and son in law at one time worked for chik fil a so i know about this company on a personal level..we all have the right to pick and choose where we spend our money..you may choose to not spend your money at chik fil a..but as i see it my friend the only disscrimination here is against chik fil a..no one else…i say go buy more chicken sandwitches and support this fine company even more….i make no apologies for anyone who stands up for what they beleive in even if someone else doesnt alway agree with what that may be..this nation believes in the right to speak your beleifs…the right to freedom of religion….and we have the right to open or closed minds as well….this is blown out of purportion…its a shame….i pray this is resolved soon and this company can go on doing what it does best…serving the community with great food!!

First, two tangentially related points: 1) The girl who posted this is bi-racial and married to a white man. I was like “Alright…so…you’re all for this company who is against “changing the definition of marriage” yet your parents wouldn’t be together, you wouldn’t be here, and you wouldn’t be married to that white man if someone hadn’t “changed” the definition 50 years ago to allow interracial marriage.

2) Republicans are CRYBABIES. Holy shit. I’m being made into a second class citizen, yet *I’m* being mean and negative for pointing it out? They can stand on their family values to say whatever horrible things they want about gay people, but once I say “you’re a bigot”, oh, oh no, now hold-up there, you’re being negative.

Are people really so dense as to think this is about a chicken sandwich? I don’t give a damn about a chicken sandwich. I don’t care how good it is or how good the customer service is.
