This is what indoctrination looks like.
You know how Republicans are always saying the gays wanna indoctrinate all the little kids into a life of sin and debauchery? How we wanna make all the children into little queers? Because apparently that’s possible or whatever.
Well. Watch this little Tea Party 6-year-old. And get back to me about indoctrination.
Nevermind how idiotic the actual content is, this is what indoctrination looks like. Gay folks aren’t trying to recruit anybody to our side of the fence. We really don’t care what you conservatives believe. Do whatever you want. We only care that your beliefs encroach upon our freedom to be ourselves. Your beliefs are never just your beliefs. Your beliefs must be thrust upon the masses for you to feel good about yourselves. Go to church. Believe in your antiquated view of what a family looks like. Believe in the select parts of the Bible you choose to agree with that week. But stop making me live by your beliefs.
I love when conservative Christians make the argument that gays want equality and respect yet we’re hypocrites because we are bullying Christians and not respecting their beliefs. Let me spell it out for you. When some conservative Christian Republican gets on their soapbox about their beliefs, it affects My Life. Laws get passed that affect My Life. Attitudes and hateful sentiments become a pervasive rash on the buttcheek of America (aka, the whole middle part and most of the South), and people think it’s OK to call us names, beat us up, and murder us for funsies. That is the lasting effect of your beliefs.
You know what my beliefs do to you? Nothing. You can still get married, go to church, raise a family, live your life, and not be afraid that around some corner a homosexual with a baseball bat will end your life. That is what I want to teach the 6 year olds, that everyone can live side by side no matter what they believe so long as laws aren’t being passed that favor one group over another. I don’t need him to parrot political views he can’t understand. I don’t need to teach him overly simplified fallacies about foreign policy or income disparity. I only want to teach him that everyone is equal and to form his own opinions about how the world works.
I’m not pimping some cute kid and teaching him soundbytes from a party that has no human decency. That’s indoctrination. Get your life together.
