Mitt Romney refuses to answer questions about FEMA.
What do you do when you’ve answered a debate question saying you would eliminate FEMA to have the states handle their own disaster response or turn it over to the private sector for profit, and then a disaster strikes and FEMA is really out there helping folks?
Easy. If you’re Mitt Romney, you just avoid all questions about it. Eleven times.
I honestly think if he really wanted to keep his position of “no FEMA” there is a way to appeal to his supporters without looking like a complete asshole to the rest of us. Observe:
“FEMA is doing an amazing job in this disaster and during my Presidency we will look at ways to implement their processes and procedures and apply them to state agencies and private businesses. FEMA’s framework was already in place here and we would ensure that it stayed that way, in case of emergency, until we felt confident that we had our better alternatives up and running.”
Boom. Done.
It’s Rafi the Republican y’all.
Even I make a better candidate than Mitt Romney. This guy is a joke that just isn’t funny anymore.
