So let's talk about _____ .
Well it’s official: Nevaeh is the worst name ever.

This is not news to me.  I was 100% Anti-Nevaeh from jump, way back Krazy aka Heather aka Nevaeh from Flavor of Love decided to use that moniker as her stage name for her singing career.

Krazy

Forreal though…isn’t this the template for the girl you picture when you hear “Nevaeh”?

I went on a baby-name rampage a few weeks ago so I won’t do it all over again.  However, I did just read an article with the headline “The Most Hated Baby Names in America” and I figured it was my duty to put this on Front Street.

It turns out that in the case of names, love and hate aren’t mutually exclusive. A new informal survey of the most disliked names in America finds that popularity often breeds backlash, as a quick track to baby-name fame seems to also trigger hate for that name. Among the most-hated “trendy” names are Jayden, Brayden, Madison and Addison.

The most commonly cited name that put people’s teeth on edge was Nevaeh, or “heaven” spelled backward. That name didn’t exist until the 1990s, but it took off in popularity in 2003, shooting from the 150th most common baby name in that year to the 31st most popular in 2007 (as of 2009, it stood at No. 34). (cont.)

In conclusion:

Stoppit.  Stoppit right now.

If you just ask sane, tasteful people about baby names, maybe run a few by them before you saddle some poor, defenseless human with a travesty of a name, you can avoid this.  Don’t be That Girl just randomly spelling things backwards.

Edit: But if that’s where we’re at now, lemme just go ahead and stake my claim and reserve the name Ebuld Esa Bretaw for my first kid.
