Flashback Friday: Paula Abdul “Blowing Kisses in the Wind”

I had a major Paula Abdul moment earlier this week and I’m still semi in it. Everybody remembers “Straight Up” and “Rush, Rush” and the cartoon cat video, but this song is slept on. It did end her streak of six consecutive number one singles (which reminded me that non-singing pretty girls have always been able to skate by on good production and a rabid fan base…I’m looking at *you* Katy Perry), but “Blowing” was Paula’s last top 10 single before she slunk off into relative obscurity…until being hired to tell other people whether they can sing or not.

This song and “Rush, Rush” were kind of her statements toward allegations that she didn’t sing on her first album and session vocalists did the heavy duty works. So she was like “Wait I can sing! Look at these ballads!”

Nice try, but your tone is way awkward.

Also, am I the only one that thought she was black? Cause I really did up until a few years ago. She’s got a lot of Heinz 57 flavors goin on in there, but none of those flavors are black, and most of it is Jewishness from both sides of her family. How bout that? I bet you just learnt somethin.
