East Village NYC one year apart.

We basically had a blizzard last Halloween and then a hurricane this one. Either god is mad at the gays — because NYC is so gay and all — or global warming is an actual thing that we should pay attention to.

NYC has no Waffle Houses.

Do you know what that means?

It means it’s impossible to really tell how fast we’re recovering from Hurricane Sandy because the Waffle House Index doesn’t apply here.

The Waffle House Index is an informal metric used by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to determine the impact of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery.

Former FEMA Director Michael Brown offered criticism of President Obama’s early responses to Hurricane Sandy yesterday, including a dig at the administration’s response to last month’s attack in Libya.

There are gay bars open downtown with no power. How do they expect guys to see each other? Oh right. Gay bars don’t have lights anyway.

Hurricane Sandy…the morning after.

This is what our neighborhood looks like!

From up here, it really looks like a non-event, but the East River was REALLY showing its whole ass last night! It definitely reminds you that NYC is just piled on a few tiny islands in a natural harbor with water all around.

Ketan and I are taking various breaks from our hurricane snacks to play on Facebook, catch up on R&B Divas on TVOne.com, and get up-to-date hurricane footage. See, without the news, I wouldn’t know what was going on with the hurricane. I couldn’t possibly get this information from looking out of the window at all of the trees doing the Shoulda Lean right now.

Oh but look what happened in my friend’s neighborhood in Brooklyn!

And people say NYC has no trees. What do you call that thing on the sidewalk, huh?

But anyway, back to the SERIOUS RACISM!
