Flashback Friday: Bernard Wright “Who Do You Love”

If you’re a black person born before 1992, you know this sample.  ”Who Do You Love” has been sampled by everybody from LL Cool J to Shades because it’s just hot.  You can’t beat a good 80s hook, and this track from 1985, Bernard’s only hit, is addictive.  Bernard is a multi-instrumentalist, specializing in jazz keyboard, who got his first touring gig when he was only 13 years old.  After a few more tours and playing on albums for other people, he released a string of his own in the 80s.  None of them were hits, but one did manage to yield this song which went to #6 on the R&B charts.
