Two of my favorite things: Idris Elba and a music video that looks like a Folger’s commercial. No seriously, even the song sounds like the backdrop to “the best part of waking up” especially around a minute and a half.
While we were all over here in the US being distracted by this silly election business, Idris was on the other side of the pond directing and starring in this video. Tell me that’s not James Bond. That is damn James Bond if I ever saw one.
Most of the time, Natasha Khan really gets on my nerves, but she can still throw down a good track. This is what Florence Welch would sound like if she wasn’t always wailing in a wind tunnel.
I FORGOT I KNEW THIS SONG! I am so buggin right now.
So. A couple of weeks ago, I took the train out to Long Island to hang out with my friend that I met on tumblr (and her husband and her kid and this is a completely normal thing to do so get out my face) and we were watching VH1 Soul in the living room. Between the two of us, we knew every video they were playing, but this Five Star group was a mystery to both of us. They were fly, and the lead chick sounded like Ralph Tresvant, but still……total mystery.
Fast forward, and I’m sitting in the bed randomly reading about Tilky Jones on Wikipedia (don’t try to figure out how my mind works) and Five Star popped up in my head. Quick youtube search, and boom. This. Song. That I know every word to.
Apparently they were a really big deal in the 80s over in the UK, and are now about to be a really big deal in the 10s over in my apartment.
I love pictures of Taylor Swift singing, especially when she is really into it. Like, she really thought she was doing big things in this picture, trying to give people goosebumps and stuff.
Taylor Swift’s new album is called “Red,” but its true color is a brilliant platinum. The 22-year-old sold 1.2 million copies of her latest album in its first week – the largest sales week for any album in a decade.
