In honor of Danity Kane’s reunion (praise!!!!) I’ve been having major girl group cravings.  It’s impossible to really rank the greats.  The Supremes didn’t really make videos but how can you not have the prototype for girl trios to come?  Does it count as a girl group if they play instruments, like the Bangles?  Does Destiny’s Child’s choreography put them a step ahead of The Saturdays, who don’t dance?

The Bats sound as jangly and as 1991-college-radio as ever on this track from their eighth album (in twenty-five years).

21. Big K.R.I.T. “Another Naieve Individual Glorifying Greed and Encouraging Racism”

Southern rap’s mixtape king gets socially conscious on the closing track to his finest effort.

It was Madonna Week so obviously I was all over that.  Girls’ Generation was super cute on Live! with Kelly though.  I’m gonna go watch that again.

Pistol Annies “Hell on Heels”

I really hope Pistol Annies puts out another album sometime and this wasn’t just a one-off collaboration because Miranda Lambert was bored or something. Pretty much my favorite new band of last year.
