     Ketan and I saw The Bright Stream at the Metropolitan Opera this weekend.

Y’all.  This ballet is TOO CUTE.  I totally recommend it for everyone, especially if you’re not a huge ballet fan.  I’d never heard of this ballet but I’m so glad we went to see it.  (Plus, Govies, Gray Davis was dancing in the corps so it was kind of like being in boarding school again.)

Check out this scene.  The old man is married, but in the first act, he flirts with a visiting ballerina.  To teach him a lesson, her male counterpart tricks him by dressing up as a ballerina and spends the entire second act in drag.  And even on pointe!  The old man’s wife also had the hots for the male ballet dancer, so the ballerina is dressed as a guy and  at one point repeats his dance sequence from the first act.  It’s really cute.
