Fear not, South Carolina. Stephen Colbert takes a bit of the sting out of Mark Sanford’s win.

I, for one, am not shocked at all. I like how everyone is all up in arms that a Republican candidate won his Republican district in a Republican state in the Republican South. As if one little affair could erase all that red paint down there.

Mark Sanford put out an ad Sunday letting us know how hard last week was….FOR HIM!

Every time I read something about Mark Sanford I think, “Wow, this guy is really off his rocker. He’s completely hit rock bottom.” But then the next week, there he is, one-upping himself. I guess he’s nothing if not consistent(ly insane).

In case you missed it, last week America saw a bombing and an explosion at a factory. Mark Sanford doesn’t have time for that. He would like you to know how bad his week was, personally.

I for one am about tired of documenting his foolywangery and overall inability to run his life, but I just want to know what goes on in that man’s head.

Monica Dixon decided a news conference about the ills of littering would be a good time to take her clothes off and march her way in front of a camera. No one else thought that was a great idea, so she got arrested.

The biggest take-away from this situation is quite serious: Don’t buy your underwear in packs of 6 for $10 from the same place you buy cabbage and antifreeze. You never know when you’ll get the urge to strip down in front of your State House during an anti-littering news segment.
